Gay love games are uncommon and well-loved, particularly within the video game realm. Many gamers feel that gay characters aren’t beneficial or even necessary, but it’s undisputed that games with LGBT characters can encourage awareness and tolerance. The games let players to create characters that are more realistic and provides them with an experience that they may not have had when they were young.
Games with gay romance
There are many games that have incorporated gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) romances, and include some acclaimed titles. One of them was Jade Empire by BioWare, that offered a range of options for romance between gay and lesbian. Although Dawn Star was only attracted to males, Sky and Silk Fox were able to be romanced by both gender, which was a big step in the Chinese fantasy game of the time. Other games with gay romances include the Eroge Maji De Watashi Ni Ki Shinasai which features two couples of homosexuality as well as the Bully series, in which players can smooch with any girl to gain health.

Dragon Age included same-sex relationships. The main protagonist, a mute male Courier who is also mute, has the perk Confirmed bachelor, that gives him an advantage in romantic interactions with gay NPCs and also gives his players a variety of advantages over other genders. By selecting the perk GirlxBoy, he can also make a romantic connection with the female NPC Momoko however it is contingent on the player’s skills and luck.

Another example worth mentioning is Larian’s high-risk Dungeons and Dragons RPG Baldur’s Gate III where the player has the option to marry one of the pansexual vampires, or the real daughter of a goddess or an elf barbarian. While not required to the story they add depth and make the gameplay more intriguing.
Romance gay
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, which is inspired by the tabletop version of the same name, contains a variety of LGBT romances that follow the clans that were in the original game and work with the settings. However, this is more an experiment in social norms and allows players to discover the reality of being gay in a role-playing game, rather than something that would be considered normal for the genre.
The 90’s Squaresoft SNES platformer Playboy The Mansion features a character named Heff which can be flirted with and establish romantic relationships with any NPC in the game. Although this may not be anything to be gush about in the context of the modern-day, re-imagined games but for an SNES title at that time it was quite revolutionary. The same can be said about the cult Neon Genesis Evangelion game, in which Kaworu is a romantically attractive character for both genders. The same goes for 7 Sins, while primarily about being a playboy who seduces women, has a few encounters with men as well.
